Dockham
By motion of Novicki, seconded by Heyduk and voted affirmatively Brenda
Brown will be contacted to
ascertain whether she would consider the position of forester for the
Dockham property. If she is agreeable to
assuming this position she will be requested to meet with the following
committee, MacFarlane, Heyduk, Lance
and Novicki. After this meeting the committee will make the final
decision to the full board. Chairman
Management Plan should be undertaken as soon as possible, dead trees are
ready to fall, trails are overgrown
and downed tree need removal. It was further agreed that such a plan
would enhance the safety and beauty
of the property.
There are still questions to be resolved before presenting this draft of
the ordinance to the Selectmen and public.
Under Section IV: Prohibitions the draft now reads It shall be unlawful
to operate wheeled motorized
vehicles of
any kind within the boundaries of any town forest except in designated
parking areas. As it now reads trail bikes
would be allowed. If the word motorized is removed would trail bikes be
prohibited? Some members believe that
trail bikes do extensive damage to trails causing ruts and erosion. It
was suggested that certain portions of the
trail system could be used by trail bikes without doing extensive damage.
As an alternative could the bikes be
allowed in certain parts of the trail system while prohibited from
others. This two level approach is used by the
Gun Stock trail system. Other legal requirements, raised by town attorney
Tim Bates, must be resolved.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.
Next meeting scheduled October 19, 2006 at 7:00 PM at
the Community Center
Respectfully submitted,
Robert A. LeCount, Secretary
