The Library building itself is a point of interest in Meredith. It was built in 1901 as a gift to the Town by Benjamin Smith, and was placed on the National Historical Register in 1985. The addition and renovation took place from 1985-1987, at which time handicapped access was addressed and fiction, non-fiction, and meeting rooms were added. The building is a typical Carnegie design, popular in the early 1900s.
The Library has a staff of five full-time and seven part-time employees. Erin Apostolos is the Director, and Judy Hodges is the Assistant Director. Included in the staffing is a children's librarian, a young adult librarian, a tech services librarian, an audio-visual specialist, computer systems co-chairs, and an archival specialist.
