Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee

The Town of Meredith is seeking applicants interested in serving on the Meredith Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee. The primary function of this Committee is to assist the Parks & Recreation Department in defining and providing diverse, leisure time recreation that complements and preserves the natural beauty and resources of Meredith. The Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the Meredith Community Center. If you are interested in learning more about the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, please contact Vint Choiniere, Parks & Recreation Director at 279-8197 or e-mail him at vchoiniere@meredithnh.org.


Meredith Center Intersection

The Town Recently held an informational meeting with the NH DOT and viewed various options for improvements to the Meredith Center Intersection near Child’s Park. The Town will continue to be proactive with the DOT to move towards desirable improvements. As speed is also a safety issue in this area, more enforcement will take place.

Press Release

New Fire Chief for Meredith

The Meredith Town Manager has announced the appointment of Kenneth Jones as the Town’s new Fire Chief. Currently the Volunteer Fire Chief for the Town of Livermore Falls, Maine, and Emergency Coordinator for the Wausau Paper Company, Mr. Jones brings extensive experience to his new position. With over 30 years in the Fire Service, Mr. Jones is well-equipped to lead the Department. Mr. Jones was selected as a result of a formal hiring process, which included 23 other candidates. He and his family will be moving to Meredith, where Mr. Jones will join the Meredith team as Fire Chief, effective June 5, replacing interim Chief Andre Kloetz. Town Manager, Carol Granfield, remarked, “I look forward to working with Mr. Jones, and to the contributions he brings to our community.”

The Town of Meredith Water Department will be flushing hydrants on… Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, May 7, 8, & 9 from 7am to 3pm.


MEREDITH LOAD LIMIT ROAD POSTINGS

NOTICE
In accordance with the Town of Meredith Load Limit Ordinance, Section II and III, the town roads are posted with a load limit of twelve thousand (12,000) pounds gross vehicle weight. This posting shall be in effect starting Monday, March 10, 2008 and will remain in effect until further notice.
Any requests for temporary permits for permission to use any of the posted town roads during this time should be directed to the Public Works Director, Michael Faller at 279-6352. Failure to comply with the provisions of this ordinance shall result in a fine of $250.00 for first offense and $500.00 for each subsequent offense. Each load that is hauled over said road shall be a separate offense.

SAFETY NOTICE FROM SOLID WASTE

Residents disposing of hypodermic needles and syringes at the Town of Meredith Solid Waste Facility are asked to place them in sealed, rigid plastic bleach or soap bottles and label bottles "NOT FOR RECYCLYING". Please do not mix these bottles in with your recyclables. This is a hazard to our employees. Dispose of them with your regular trash. Your cooperation in complying with this safety policy is appreciated.

Meredith Property Tax Rate Set at $10.91

The 2007 tax rate has been certified by the New Hampshire Department of Revenue at $10.91 per $1,000 of assessed value. This is an increase of $.17 from the 2006 tax rate. The following is a breakdown of the rate:

The Town is pleased to report a reduction of $.09 in the Town portion. The town does not have control over the other portions that make up the tax rate. Tax bills will be issued shortly with a due date of December 14. Anyone wishing to contest their assess- ments can request a review by filing an abatement application with the Assessing Depart- ment before March 1. The total assessed valuation of the Town rose from $1.898 billion to $1.918 billion. Tax rate history.
