ASSESSING DEPARTMENT CONDUCTING CYCLICAL INSPECTIONS: The Assessing Department is currently conducting inspections to comply with the State’s requirement for five-year property inspections on all properties. The New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration (DRA) randomly inspects properties to verify that the town’s records are accurate. If the DRA finds that our assessing records do not meet accuracy requirements, and we are not actively engaged in a program to inspect properties, the DRA has the authority to require the Town to hire additional personnel to address the problem. Therefore, since 2007 we began visiting 20% of the town per year. This entails checking measurements and performing interior inspections. We send out a letter informing taxpayers approximately when we will be in a particular area as well as leave a note on the door after we have visited the property. Appointments can be arranged by calling the Assessing Office. For 2016, our Field Appraiser Bettina Ford, will be performing inspections in the eastern part of Meredith including Meredith Neck Road, Cattle Landing, Harris Road and Route25 areas.  We will also be inspecting properties on Bear Island and the surrounding smaller islands.
